Attention all CNCR Coaches!

The Skater Development and Region Development Coordinators are looking for skaters who fit the criteria for the following:

1) Region Talent Team (previously RST)

2) Region Junior Team (previously Junior Selects or Rising Stars)

In order for skaters to be considered for these teams, we are requiring coaches to submit skater’s names though a nomination process which includes a short video submission. Please see the form below the criteria charts. In order to select skaters this year, we are using the criteria as a baseline, and will be specifically looking at age and strong skating skills.

All submissions will be reviewed by the Skater Development, Region Development and Section Coaches Representatives. Skaters selected to these teams will be notified by the Section and Region Skater Development Committees.

Region Talent Team

Skaters selected will reflect the best developing single skaters in our region who meet the below criteria or guidelines, and who are not currently on the BC Team or Provincial Development Team.

Pre-Novice	Double Lutz Strong Skating & spins Good basic technique	- Skater must not have reached the age of 15, July 1 preceding the event.
Juvenile	Double Flip Strong Skating & spins Good basic technique	- Skaters who competed in this category and met the age criteria for the current season.
Pre-Juvenile	Double Toe-Loop Strong Skating & spins Good basic technique	- Skaters who competed in this category and met the age criteria for the current season.
Preliminary	Axel Strong Skating Good basic technique	- Skater must not have reached the age of 11, July 1 preceding the event and commit to competitive skating within 18 months if age and test eligible.
Pre. Prelim.	All single jumps Strong Skating	- Skater must not have reached the age of 10, July 1 preceding the event and commit to competitive skating within 24 months if age and test eligible.
*Secondary events in which skaters MAY be considered for the Region Select Team*
Sr. Bronze	Double Flip Strong Skating & spins Good basic technique	- Skater must not have reached the age of 13, July 1 preceding the event and commit to competitive skating the following year if age and test eligible.
Jr. Bronze	Double Toe-Loop Strong Skating Good basic technique	- Skater must not have reached the age of 12, July 1 preceding the event and commit to competitive skating the following year if age and test eligible.

Age: 7 and Under as of April 6^th / 2012 (Date of Kelowna Development Camp)

Skating Skills: Strong Stroking (Forwards/Backwards)

Crossovers

Awareness of Edges

Skating Elements: Must be landing Loop Jump

Should be aware of Sit Spin and Camel Spin

In addition: These skaters should be able to handle a 2 day seminar, including:

2 on-ice sessions

2 off-ice sessions

Assorted Seminars this Fall in the CNCR

On Friday, October 28th the Spruce City SC is hosting a one day seminar with Bruno Delmaestro.

2011 / 2012 SEASON IS STARTING - updated information now on CNCR Website

WELCOME TO A BRAND NEW SEASON - 2011/2012

The CNC Region Board would like to welcome all returning Skate Canada Members and new Members to the 2011/2012 Season!!

There are many changes/updates within the Skating World for the 2011/2012 season and the CNC Region Board will attempt to keep the clubs, parents, skaters, officials and coaches updated on the CNCR Website. We have started to build a "Newsletter" list where the Website Email Blasts newsletters. At this time all club emails, presidents, secretaries and coaches (from the Form 100s) are on the email blast list. If you would like to be included please send an email to us under the "Contact Us" tab and you will be included on all future Newsletter Blasts.

Over the Summer the Board has been working on the Website to update it with new information from Skate Canada, BC/YT Section and the new season's forms from the CNCR. There is a new section under the Club Info tab - "CanSkate Information" and this information that was picked up at the Skate Canada AGM this year. The Calendar has also been updated with all the upcoming CNCR & Super Series competitions and CNCR Test days. If you have anything special that you would like posted on the CNCR Calendar - i.e. Ice Shows - please forward the information to either your Area Rep or the Region Chairman.

The first big event for the CNCR for the 2011/2012 season is the upcoming Junior/Senior High Performance Seminar on the weekend of September 16th to 18th. There will also be a Coaches' Seminar and a Know Your Sport Seminar offered at the same time. Something for the whole skating family! The registration forms and information are posted on the website.

Club administration information from Skate Canada, as well as Insurance info, registration info and much, much more have also been updated and posted to the website. The website has also been updated to include links to the BC/YT Section website's specific pages - i.e. Club page.

Updated Judging and Coaching information has also been posted to the website as well as links to the BC/YT Section.

We would like to update the "Golden Blades" section so if you have any skaters from your club that received their Golden Blade last year please email that information to your Area Rep or the Region Chair so the skaters' name can be added to the list. If any skater has passed their Senior Competitve Test please forward a little write up about the skater so it can be posted with the other Senior Skaters.

We would like to invite you to come take a peek at your Regional Website and hopefully it will be able to answer some questions you may have as you get started for a new year of skating.

FORM 100s FOR THE 2011/2012 SEASON TO BE UPDATED AFTER THE CLUB'S AGM

Please find the attached Form 100 to be used by your club after your AGM. Even though you may not know who your coaches are or what officials will be registered with your club, please fill out all the board positions and any other information you may have. This will allow the Region to update the website and their records. There will be email blasts during the off season to keep the clubs informed. Updating the Form 100s before October will confirm that the emails will be going to the correct people.

Broadcast Mailings from the CNCR Website

The new CNCR Website has the capability to email members our newsletters. The announcement for the Quesnel FSC's winning of the Skate Canada contest was broadcast emailed to the following:

CNCR Board members
CNCR Club emails
CNCR Cub Presidents
CNCR Club Secretaries
CNCR Club Coaches

We always send our information to at least 2 executive members of a club, in case one is away.

On the CNCR Website we only have the capability to list 2 club coaches, so the first two that are listed on the Form 100s are the two that are listed. If another coach wishes to receive the broadcast emails please forward their name and email address to the website and they will be added on for the broadcast emails.

All newsletters and announcements are also included in RSS feeds. I honestly do not know how this works, but the availability is there.

If any of your members, other than those that are listed, would like to be included in the broadcast mailings, please forward their information to this site.

When the new Form 100s are received for the new season the changes will be made for the emails. If you are President this year and next year you step down then your email address will be replaced with the new President's. If you wish to stay on the email list, please let us know.
