CNCR SOUTH-CENTRAL AREA NEWSLETTER #1 2008-2009 SEASON
Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your summer. The Region Board has been busy preparing for the upcoming season. We recently met in Prince George for our annual 'Planning' meeting, unfortunately the Presidents workshop we prepared for had to be canceled due to low numbers able to commit to attending. We will try to reschedule during the proposed High Performance Seminar Sept 6/7th. Hopefully that will be a better date and at least one representative from each of your clubs will be able to attend.
A few items of interest arising from the recent CNCR Board meetings:
-Williston Skate and Regionals will both offer CPC for the competitive events next season.
-Watch for the Northern BCWinter Games Qualifying Announcement which will be sent out separately this year and prior to the Williston Announcement. Zones who don't have more entry's than their allotted number will not have to skate-off and those skaters who have registered to compete will be notified prior to the Williston registration deadline.
-A new 'Come Skate With Us' package is being created and will be ready for distribution by Sept 1st All clubs are encouraged to apply for region funding to help you promote and increase your Canskate programs...see the Caribooster for details.
-All clubs are required to send a copy of their Clubs Constitution to their Area Rep. ASAP and prior to the start of the season. This can be in hard copy or by email attachment.
-Clubs are advised they must request and keep on file, proof of current Skate Canada Registration and certification for all coaches in their employ.
-The Test Surcharge, formally referred to as a Judges Bureau fee, has been increased to 4.00 per test. This is the first increase since 1994.
-FIELD TRAINING Seminar funding is available to a club in the South Central Area...if interested in hosting same, please contact me or Chairman Donna for further information.
-Clubs are to submit copies of all club minutes to their Area Rep. immediately following meetings, via email. This falls in line with the Section policy regarding Region minutes.
-Region Fundraiser-Disney tickets will be distributed to each club to sell. The profits from this fundraiser will go toward funding the Come Skate With Us, Synchro and other Field Training Seminars. Watch for further info from Region Fundraising Director Susan Slater.
-Congratulations to South Central Area senior skater and graduating student Breanne Ferris who was the recipient of the 2008 CNCR Scholarship.
Thanks to all the clubs who have sent in the required Form 100 listing all your board executive members. We are still waiting for the Nechako and Spruce City club information. Once all clubs Form 100 have been received we can complete and distribute the 2009 Caribooster.
And lastly, make it a habit to regularly check out the Region website for all the latest information...www.skatecncr.com
